1. What are cookies?

2. The types of cookies we use
This section sets out information about the cookie technology we use on our site for which we are responsible. Where personal data is processed by these cookies, NN Psychology LTD (trading as The Groundwork) is the data controller of that information within the meaning of applicable data protection law. Third-party providers of the cookie technology we use may process data collected by the cookies on our site, in an aggregated form, for their own purposes.
Essential cookies
We use essential cookies to operate the core functions of our website, so you can visit and move around it and use its features. We do not require your consent to use these cookies, though you may be able to block them yourself in your browser (see section 5). However, without these cookies our site is unlikely to work as you would expect, and certain services you ask for may not be available. Where we process personal data using essential cookies, we do so on the basis of our legitimate interests, namely to provide a website for visitors to use and to promote our business.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies are used for statistical analysis. These analytics are provided through the built-in analytics tools of our website and marketing platform, Innovorise (a white-label of HighLevel). They help us understand how visitors use and move around our website, which informs improvements to it, for example making popular features easier to find or ensuring the site works properly on the devices our visitors use. These cookies use a distinctive sequence of characters from which your browser or device can be identified, and may collect information about your browser type and settings, device type and settings, operating system and mobile network. This information distinguishes you from other visitors but cannot be used to identify you as a named individual. We only set these cookies where you have given consent, and where we process personal data using them we do so on the basis of that consent. Rejecting analytics cookies prevents us from collecting this data; the performance and functionality of our site will not be affected.
Social media and advertising cookies
We advertise on social media platforms, primarily Meta (Facebook and Instagram). We use advertising and analytics technology from those platforms on our own website, including the Meta Pixel, to:
• understand which pages visitors reach on our site and which actions they take, such as downloading a guide;
• measure the effectiveness of our advertising;
• tailor our advertising, including building and matching custom or lookalike audiences, so that we show relevant adverts to people who have visited certain pages of our site.
These cookies and similar technologies use a distinctive sequence of characters from which your browser or device can be identified, and may collect information about your browser, device, operating system and network. This information distinguishes you from other visitors but is not used by us to identify you as a named individual. We only set these cookies where you have given consent, and where we process personal data using them we do so on the basis of that consent. Rejecting these cookies prevents us from relating your visits to our website to our social media advertising campaigns, and prevents the associated cookies from being set on your device via thegroundwork.uk.
3. Note on ‘experience-enhancing’ cookies
At present, we do not use experience-enhancing cookies. These would allow us to tailor content to you, for example to make the site and the information on it more relevant to your interests. Choosing to allow all cookies, or turning on the ‘experience-enhancing’ toggle, will have no impact at this time. We have included this section because we may wish to use these cookies in future. If we do, we will provide details so that you can make an informed choice, and we will only use them on the basis of your consent at that time.
4. Cookies set by third parties
Third-party cookies are cookies set by a domain other than the one you are visiting. When you visit our website, third-party organisations may place cookies on your browser even if you are not a logged-in member of those organisations, because third-party cookies do not require you to actively engage with the third party’s content, only to load a page on which their technology sits. For example, we may use third-party technologies such as video and audio hosting platforms so you can watch videos and listen to audio on our website; the providers of these technologies may set cookies when you visit those pages.
